Subject: Re: Open AI Investment
My guess is DIS has been laying low and waiting for its chance to bring these claims for a while. Now that the bigs are have gotten us all hooked on generative AI to fuel their growth, they can’t afford to lose a case like this. They will have to settle. David Singer, counsel to DIS who wrote the letter to GOOG, is very sharp and very strategic.
OpenAI is smart to do a deal like this, but they’re also a business that isn’t a business. They just want to take over the world. DIS has other priorities. It has to protect its IP. Not sure what GOOGs priority is, other than to make sure people keep using its products and don’t go to OpenAI just because they want to include a Disney character in their project. It will be fun to see how it plays out.
Maybe Altman should become the new CEO of DIS.
