I guess I felt that Israel wouldn't mind Iran being a real country---or at least sort of a real country that isn't lobbing bombs. Think Egypt. Think Turkey.
El-Sisi overthrew an elected government that the US didn't like, and is kept in line with lots and lots of USian money, $1.3-1.4B/year, according to the net sifter.

If the Israelis and US installed a Quisling, like "Prince Reza" in Iran, he would be overthrown eventually. Iran would be a rich and advanced country, twice enraged by Israel, and the US, subjecting them to brutal, repressive, dictators. Better, from Israel's perspective, for Iran to be a perpetual failed state, torn by internal strife.
