Subject: Re: Trump threatens a Tariff Tantrum
You want to fund it all with sales taxes (*I’m sorry: tariffs).

Since you bring up sales taxes, recall when Mick Huckabee was running for POTUS, the centerpiece of his policy proposal was to completely replace the income tax with the "fair tax", a national sales tax. And that was without the draconian cuts that Trump is proposing. As offered before, Trump is the most interventionist POTUS since FDR. How much would the government reduce spending, if it did nothing but unwind everything FDR enacted? You could make a case that, if the citizens of a state refuse to tax themselves for roads, or schools, or adequate police, why does funding those activities automatically become the Federal government's problem? The local news here in metro Detroit is constantly talking about things being done with Federal grant money.
