Because it's all artificial and it's all self-stimming. These people are mentally ill and basically "blank" inside. They need external support and guidance to generate something that feels like an emotion so they can pretend that they're actually alive and not the walking zombies that they actually are.

Been reading about the various forms of narcissism lately, and once you really start spotting symptoms you can see just how endemic it is amongst the modern left. It's kinda sad.
