Trump has probably broken our system of government beyond repair. With the help of a GOP controlled Congress and a right wing dominated SCOTUS.

One reason I think it’s very likely that Donald Trump ends up being the most consequential president of our lifetimes, is that it seems to me very unlikely that we go back to the way it was before after this experience. We’re in an environment where there’s not a huge constituency for a restorationist president, for people to say, “Oh, actually, I really hope the next president will voluntarily restrain themselves and exercise prudence and respect the balance of powers.”
