Governor Shapiro: I think that what our party has to go through, that will be very healthy, and something that we've not really done since the 1992 elections, is to have a battle over what we believe in.

And he's absolutely correct.

Parties are made up of human beings. And human beings, being human, are prone to all sorts of nonsense... including Democrats.

Hopefully, we will not fall into the same trap Republicans fell into- being captured by the crazy, fear driven wing.

Indications are that Democratic socialists will win a few seats. Given the absolute insanity of the Republican Party and its authoritarian rule, and given the increased economic disenfranchisement that ultra-wealthy technocrats have imposed upon the working class through their Republican proxies in the Congress, the White House and Supreme Court, I'm surprised that there aren't more Democratic Socialists, but politics is always local... and the voting patterns in one area do not necessarily reflect the voting patterns or sentiments in another area.

"Democratic socialism" is one voice at the larger Democratic table. It's a needed voice, and it speaks to issues that Corporate Democrats have ignored for too long.

But it's a long way from being "a voice at the table" to being "the only voice at the table"

Do you see the distinction? It's an important one. You see...... we're still committed to democracy.

Republicans seem to have abandoned it.
