Subject: What a Surprise
For the last 18 months I've been buying bananas at 50c/ pound. (I don't know about the price before then as this is when I moved to the area). Today, the price is 54c/pound. About a 10% increase on the value at the border.
I remember a politician saying that the exporting country would pay the tariff. I have seen right wing commentators saying that supplies and sellers would reduce their margins to match the tariff.
Well it seems like I am paying the tariff and I have been lied to! What a surprise.
