US becomes world's largest oil exporter, overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia

According to Vortexa, U.S. oil exports rose to about 10.5 million barrels per day in May, supported by strong production and releases from strategic reserves, making the United States the world's top oil exporter for a third consecutive month.

Reuters calculations showed that Russia exported 7 million barrels per day in May, while Vortexa estimated Saudi Arabia's exports at 5.9 million barrels per day.

By comparison, Saudi Arabia exported around 8.1 million barrels per day in 2025, the United States exported 6.6 million barrels per day, and Russia's exports totaled approximately 5.8 million barrels per day.

At the same time, the United States' new dominance could weaken the pricing power traditionally exercised by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies in global oil markets.

Its position as the world's largest oil exporter could also give Washington a powerful new source of leverage in negotiations with allies and rivals, Reuters reported.
