This is what happens when you elect fascists. And it’s only the beginning. It gets worse from here- and the fascists (as fascists ALWAYS do), will blame the victims for their own repression and destruction.

I would present it a bit differently. Many if not most of Trump’s voters knowingly elected a liar, who turned out to be a fascist. Had they known then what they know today, they wouldn’t have voted for him. But there are no re-dos in life. We are unlikely to ever get the chance to vote him, or his regime, out in a real election.
