The Lincoln Project wasn’t trying to fool anyone (except you it appears). As mentioned in your link, the Lincoln Project actually announced that they were doing this to remind everyone about the real neo-nazis that marched to support Trump.

If you are unable to tell the difference between these two acts, you’re either dishonest or a fool.
