I remember being uncomfortable when Homeland Security became a cabinet department. Just the name alone has a fascist sound to it. Very reminiscent of the German Fatherland.

IMHO the entire Homeland Security Department needs to go. CBP and ICE are irredeemable and should be disbanded as well. The rest might get passed around to other cabinet departments or become stand alone agencies.

We’d need to stand up a new agency for customs and immigration enforcement, or maybe roll it into a couple of the surviving agencies, with drastically changed mission statements.
