Subject: Re: Hobbs sends Nat'l Guard to AZ border
Actually, that isn't new. Ducey, while governor, did the same thing. The NG went home in Sept. Now, in Dec, Hobbs is -in essence- renewing that order. Which, for a blue governor in a mostly red state, was also a good move politically.

She's definitely breaking with the White House orthodoxy, which has been to encourage a wide open southern border.

Note that "they were needed elsewhere", implying that there are not enough resources to staff Lukeville and "elsewhere". Congress controls the purse-strings. They need more people. There are also some calls for immigration reform from AZ congresscritters. Again (it's not like this is a new thing).

Biden doesn't want to hire enforcement officers (the guys that deport people). He wants to hire processing people (the guys that rubber stamp the amnesty applications and release them into the US knowing they'll never appear in court). There's a big difference between the two.

For starters. You actually have to train a border patrol agent, so you can't just go out and hire a bunch of dudes.
