Subject: Re: After comm. scandle, Putin lunch is sloppy seconds
The lunch was scheduled to be at the Hotel Captain Cook, which is the most elegant hotel in Anchorage. Which is not a very high bar, it must be said. One of the menu items was Halibut Olympia, which I had never heard of. Apparently, I was not alone. There was an article about it in today's NYT.
It has the vibe of being homey and comforting and mildly retro, but palatable, said Jeremy Pataky, an editor and co-publisher of Edible Alaska magazine. I would not characterize it as haute cuisine. To see that on the menu for an extremely high-level state dinner felt a bit surprising.
