Enjoyed this series of Gene Hoots’ substack entries on Conwood (Tobacco) of Memphis which Warren & Charlie loved the business and future earnings power, but they ultimately decided morally not wholly own a tobacco company. Ironically, the Pritzker family ultimately bought Conwood and turned a nice profit upon selling the business to Reynolds. Interesting that RJR was a Berkshire investment for a brief chapter in the 80’s which turned out nicely.
