Given the propensity of left wingers to use their firearms on right wingers, I agree with registered democrats surrendering their weapons.

The statistics show that -where affiliation is determined- it us more often the 'right'.

However, add registered Republicans to your list, and we have something we can work with. Maybe to register to vote, you have to surrender all firearms (and not buy any new ones). What do you think that would do to the voting landscape? Dems would win all elections every time, since Reps are gun owners by better than 2:1 (about 45% to 20%)
