Subject: Re: PBS News Weekend - RIP

It was 30 minutes of news on Sat and Sun.

Actually, no. I happened to watch it yesterday, as all the commercial network news programs were preempted by "bread and circuses". There was little news. Then a 5 minute discussion about something. Then another 5 minute discussion about something else. Then a rerun of a discussion about something, from some time ago. And this is not a new thing. The weekend PBS news has been pretty worthless for a long time, little news, followed by running out the clock with long discussions.

oh, lookee. Yesterday's ep is on YT.

Intro teases, advertising, and funding acknowledgements: 2 minutes.

total news content: Venezuela, Ukraine, Airbus flight system recall. Tom Stoppard died. Total time, 2 minutes and a few seconds.

Then, a long piece on whooping cough.

Then, a long piece on people who work full time, and still can't afford to pay rent.

Then, a long, rerun, piece on female lighthouse keepers.

And the PBS weekend news has been like this for a long time.
