Subject: Re: Debating Master Class
I'm at least two rungs below Albaby, in debating skill. He's one of the reasons I'm here. He has misunderstood me at times.

I've been trying to emulate his writing style on the Nextdoor app in our low population rural county; not letting emotions creep in, sticking to facts as much as possible, providing links to source, etc.

It's frustrating in that there are so many ignorant and/or barely literate posters AND posters like old Dope; so deeply partisan that facts are ignored.

There are some interesting forces at work here. It's a traditionally red area; Central California ranchers and farmers represented by the likes of Victor Davis Hanson and Devin Nunes, and very wealthy grape growers/vintners like 'The Wonderful Company's Stewart and Lynda Resnick .

Water is a huge issue. 100day Trump claimed he is solving the water issue yesterday. 2 months ago he had the USACE do a major dam release to the chagrine of valley farmers who will need that water later in the dry season. What a performative waste. Pissed off the farmers, and pissed off the commercial fisherman who are being denied a salmon season 3rd year running because salmon need rivers to thrive and the rivers are low and hot because of water diversion to farmers. Trump wants wealthy farmer's campaign contributions. Commercial fisherman want salmon.

There's a weird issue in that Biden sold/leased hundreds of square miles of DEEP ocean 20 to 40 miles off the central coast to foreign wind turbine companies to giant moored turbine fields. Gov Newsom, The Sierra club and others Democratic orgs support the development of the huge wind farms. A blend of commercial fishermen, whale lovers and right wingers oppose it. It's weird to see the pro-wind farm folks support development that puts the marine environment at risk. Strange bedfellows. As if oil rigs here will be better than turbine farms offshore?
