Tesla and Uber announce a partnership:

Calling this a partnership is a real stretch. More like Uber subsidizing the purchase of Semis to put on their network and Tesla helping with the implementation ... the same Tesla does with any of their new customers. (Semis aren't plug and play since you need to build out infrastructure to go electric.)

Uber trucking is a minuscule consolidator in a massive hyper-competitive field. Applying AI to the business is smart but I don't see a durable competitive advantage. Revenues over the last year are flat and they lose money.

Yes, I'm short UBER. Hasn't been a good trade so far. I use the service and it's an improvement over the old taxi days but I don't "like" them. I liked their old CEO (Travis Kalanick) and it pissed me off when they fired him. Lots of people still don't see what's about to happen to them.

My guess is that Tesla will eventually build their own trucking network the same way they're building their own Robotaxi network. First it's got to go autonomous. They have already done autonomous (with safety driver) runs. Then, they need to ramp production and build out the charging network. Just a matter of time on this but not their first priority.

I've got a friend who married a girl who is richer, smarter and better looking than him. Bet on that girl, not the guy looking for a few scraps of affection.
