The Democrats spent most of the early 2000's trying to get a "path to citizenship" for aliens who were otherwise law-abiding. Don't you remember all the proposals that were brought forward with various Gangs of Eight or Six or whomever in the Senate? Obama's constant efforts to use Executive Orders like DACA and DAPA to achieve that?

That was 20 years ago. Where are their proposals now?

Where are the ideas from all the compassionate liberals on this board today? Do they not value The Community and all that?

It doesn't get brought up any more, because immigrant advocates know the don't have the votes.

The votes could be there if the democrats were willing to actually give ground somewhere: how many times has the GOP signaled their willingness to deal over the years? Even *Trump* has.

And that doesn't stop the board denizens who really, really feel for The Community to offer up something.
