Subject: Re: Vote Republican. We Kill Puppies.
The right revels in misinformation. They make virtue of their ignorance.

I'm going to say it, legislators are too uneducated on the intricacies of reproductive medicine to make laws regarding these matters.

------------------

We are operating in a mode where the far right literally KNOWS nothing about biology and instead operates on "belief."

Belief that "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." That's what Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin said in 2012. Out loud. In front of an audience.

Belief that every pregnancy flows smoothly, divinely from conception to birth without a hint of problems or risks to the mother. Maybe this is true because women avoid talking about pregnancy in wider circles in the first couple of months because they KNOW bad things can happen and don't want the additional trauma of having to explain to everyone outside their family "what happened." Certainly women married to Neanderthals like conservative Republicans say NOTHING for as long as possible to keep their options open. Maybe it's true that conservative Republican men truly believe all pregnancies are nothing but rainbows and unicorns cuz no woman has ever divulged to them a bad outcome. They just handle it on their own and the men stay blissfully unaware and ignorant.

But that doesn't explain conservative Republican women supporting these policies. They know. Which means they don't care in the aggregate and must believe that in their personal lives and lives of their daughters, they can always get the services they need somewhere. A very "live as I say, not as I do" attitude. Only they are creating vast "deserts" of obstetric care spanning multiple states where doctors with the required skills are becoming more sparsely spread out, increasing the distance required to reach qualified care. Not all care required during pregnancy can be planned ahead to wait for an appointment days out and a twelve hour car ride or 2 hour plane ride to reach a facility.
