commonone,
Yeah we get it. Trump is just totally corrupt, it's traumatized a lot of people.
But, living in reality means if you want to actually solve problems, you need to play the hand that has been dealt.
In this case, you have been dealt the Trump Joker and that is the hand that we all have to play at least until 2026 midterms and a Dem takover of the House in Jan 2027, at which point, Trump will be impeached (On Midnight Jan 1 no doubt).
So, are you just willing to wait another 13 months before trying to end the Ukraine war? Just going to post thousands of "Trump SUX!" posts for the next 13 months? That doesn't seem very productive.
Let's take Trump out of the equation for a minute.
Zelensky is running a totally corrupt regime. His Chief of Staff got raided and was evidently sent to the front to fight the Russians as punishment.
Also, a number of other high-ranking officials in Zelensky's regime have been accused/discovered to actually be totally corrupt.
How exactly is it possible for Zelensky to negotiate with any credibility when his entire regime is corrupt?
If his own government is filled with officials who are more concerned about lining their own pockets than the war with Russia, i.e. they don't give a sh*t, why should anyone else care what happens to Ukraine?
Other than of course as to how it might impact NATO. But Ukraine itself? It's always been corrupt, it still is corrupt, their leaders don't care about the people at all.
Again--other than geopolitical aspects which might affect NATO--why should anyone else care if Zelensky doesn't care enough to have non-corrupt people working for him?
And the biggest geopolitical issue affecting NATO is that Russia doesn't want Ukraine in NATO and Russia wants to keep the Donbass and the Russian speaking parts of Ukraine.
Why would NATO want to add Ukraine to NATO? How is that helpful to NATO? I'm not saying it is or isn't. The question needs to be answered.
It seems like NATO's best strategy is to let the war grind on forever and let Ukraine and Russia continue an endless war of attrition against each other. Perpetual warfare.
Yeah a lot of people have died and a lot more people will die but if they're Ukrainians and Russians how is that bad for NATO?
If I was a young Ukrainian man of military age in good health I sure as hell wouldn't be fighting in this war risking my life for a totally corrupt regime. And hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men of draft age have left the country because this war is simply not worth it.
I agree.
