Maxwell may have picked up some walking around money from the KGB. But, he was buried in Israel. Guests at his funeral included the then PM and President of Israel, and about six currently serving, and previous, heads of Israeli intellegence agencies.

As offered before, with Epstein and Maxwll *both* having close connections to Israeli intelligence, the odds are pretty slim that their honey pot operation was not primarily for Israel's benefit.
