No. The Republicans simply want every voter to prove they are properly authorized to vote in that election and that requires confirming your identity. To the extent the burden of providing id results in voter suppression is a secondary effect we can debate but to claim suppression is the primary motivation is just another talking point.

No. Not true. The requirements continually evolve and change. And if ID doesn't work, then polling stations will be shut down that service workingmen's neighborhoods where Democrats are higher. Since mail in voting helped those with transportation problems, that is discouraged or eliminated. Republicans don't want people voting unless they're Republican. And you get quite inventive at it.
