I never lived in Texas but both my parents were Texans, one from Kerrville, the other from the middle of nowhere on the Edwards Plateau. As a kid I was inordinately proud of the fact that an ancestor on my mother's side had fought and been killed in the Alamo.

Guns? My gun locker only has a 5 shot .38 Chief's Special and a 12 gauge shotgun and neither has been out of that locker in 20 years. As an LE officer I carried a Sig Sauer P226 9mm semi-auto. Late in the career I had an AR-15, a weapon I now wish was banned outside military use.
