I've been wondering about that. If you have different countries producing different armaments, you have to have parts for them all.
Parts aren't necessarily interchangeable. A Leopard II is almost certainly going to have different parts than a M1 Abrams. But they have universal calibers across NATO nations (155mm). As I recall, the Soviet was 162mm. Ukraine has burned through most of their Soviet-era equipment and shells, and are receiving NATO 155mm guns and shells. Ukraine is fielding Leopards and Abrahms and Challengers, not to mention field pieces. All 155mm.
Yeah...I'm a geek about that sort of thing. That's why I watch Perun. He goes into the gory details, far more than any standard (or even non-standard) news outlet. Pivotal points in history I like to know more about, and this is one of them.
