Donald Trump breaks silence after comment left his close ally Netanyahu 'alarmed'

Donald Trump reiterated his admiration for Israel in a Truth Social post Saturday night, hours after reports suggested Benjamin Netanyahu had been left unsettled by a comment he made.

Writing around 9pm ET, the U.S. president described Israel as a "great ally" of Washington in a dig at counterparts in Europe who refused to join the Iran war.

"Whether people like Israel or not, they have proven to be a GREAT Ally of the United States of America," wrote Trump. "They are Courageous, Bold, Loyal, and Smart and, unlike others that have shown their true colors in a moment of conflict and stress, Israel fights hard, and knows how to WIN!"

Earlier reports painted a picture of a distressed Netanyahu who had been shocked by Trump declaring Israel "prohibited" from carrying out airstrikes in Lebanon, essentially contradicting the text of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.

Trump the Magnificent better not put his knee pads away. "Bibi" is going to be holding this perceived slight over him, for the rest of his life.
