I think it used to link to directly to the MF message boards.
When the boards were shut down DataHelper (or someone else?) scraped the boards and linked them to the site.

More precisely, the site always crawled and stored all the posts, because the full text was needed for the indexing.
The crawling was done with the Fool's permission.
When the old Fool site went off line, the index site made available the content it had always had on hand.
The assumption is that the Fool folks don't care about that.
