Unlike President Obama who is said to be busy on the golf course arriving late while CIA Director Leon Panetta ran and gave the go ahead for the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Key details regarding Panetta's role:
Operational Control: Panetta commanded the mission and was in direct communication with Admiral William McRaven, who led the special forces raid on the ground.
Final Instructions: Panetta authorized the mission, telling Adm. McRaven to "go in, get Bin Laden, and if he wasn't there, get out".

The Mission: Panetta noted that although the decision to raid the Abbottabad compound was risky, he advised the President that the evidence warranted the action.

Panetta later highlighted that while he commanded the operation, Vice Admiral McRaven was the "real commander" on-site leading the SEAL team.“
