Subject: I didn’t change my mind
I always thought that caving in to the one-sided MAGA bill was pure folly for the Democrats, and I still do.

Sen. Schumer is living in the past when there was some honor among thieves. The Republicans ended that era decades ago.

There is some commonality between bullies, blackmailers, and land-grabbing dictators. Giving in to them only encourages them to continue their behavior. It turns out that the lowest cost to stop them, while painful, is always the first time they try to bully, blackmail, or grab land. When you obsequiously surrender to them, the activity continues and the price always goes up.

Sen. Schumer was concerned about the pain of a shutdown. Where the hell has he been since January 20th? What does he think the Republicans have been doing? And Schumer just handed the Republicans the keys, the car, and a full tank of gas to continue the damage that has the majority of Americans having less and less faith in our government.

Americans (not just Democrats - town halls, anyone?) are looking for someone to stop the egregious corruption and damaging dismantling of government institutions that our current administration is doing. And Sen. Schumer just blew it. Big time. Major big time. He folded like a cheap suit.

Blame? At least 80%, probably more like 90%, of Americans just don’t pay attention to the details. Even with the parties wrangling over a reasonable bill during a shutdown, most Americans would just blame the party in charge. And even if the Democrats took the heat, they could just say they’re doing it to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, which would be the truth.

If there is any silver lining in this hot steaming load of screw up, it’s that hopefully the Democrats will finally put Schumer out to pasture and find a fighter to replace him. You know, someone who would actually do the right thing for Americans.
