What states right was it that the Confederate States wanted? Oh, yes the right to enslave people.

Such is the fiction promulgated by the Lost Cause advocates who butchered U.S.history in the turn of tbe century south.

Lest there be any conceivable doubt as to the primary reason that southern states seceded, the plain truth is evident in the primary reason listed in each state’s articles or ordinances of secession. In every instance, the primary reason given is the threat posed by the newly elected Lincoln to the institution of slavery.
