Don’t we all deserve a second chance?
Absolutely. But only after the individual admits they were wrong, seeks forgiveness from those they harmed, and shows contrition for their sins.
I almost responded the same, AW.... but figured since I am the resident "Man of God", I would be dismissed for being a holy roller by bringing in religion to the discussion.
But as one of the resident agnostics, AW..... you made the same point, and it's a good one.
And the critique goes for the entire Republican Party. There has been no contrition for their complicity in the Big Lie, no admission that they have caved in to a liar, cheat, and scoundrel who likewise refuses to admit his wrongdoing. And until they do, there can be no forgiveness, especially since their foot is pressing on our necks.
My fear, as I watch Democrats begin to obey in advance, or speak of "working with" Republicans, that they are starting down the same path of capitulation that Republicans have already walked.
There are shining and stellar examples of those who refuse to capitulate- some in Congress, precious few journalists, and a handful of judges. May they be an example to the rest of us. I trust that as more people are harmed by the absolute cruelty of this administration, they will rouse from their narcoleptic trance of self-absorbtion and discover that their freedom is also at stake
There is no "common ground" with fascists.
