Makes no sense to a cursory inspection. TSA precheck passengers require less time/attention/personnel to pass through security.
Seems punitive to me.
However there are times when there is no one in the pre-check line, so you have 3-4 officers standing around doing nothing. From a scheduling standpoint it’s probably easier to staff the regular lines and not bother with the pre-check - although since TSA is supposed exempt from all this fuss, I don’t see how this applies.
So there you have it sports fans, I come down squarely on both sides of the decision.
