Subject: Re: 401K'ERS gone wild
With investing, boring is good. I have a lot in index funds, some general MFs, and a few individual stocks. All of the mutual funds are in IRAs. The only stuff out of the IRA is the individual stocks. Plus a large cash cushion, funded in part by mom's demise (I just never bothered to reinvest it once I transferred it to my accounts). That money was supposed to be for her to live and have fun, but she never did after her BFF died. Then dementia, and her funds just supported her in memory care until the end.

You're smart retiring at 45. I did it at 59. Live it up while you can, because eventually you won't be able to. But that's straying far away from topic.
