Subject: Re: Europe w/o US equipment
the US, in the form of Rubio last week, is demanding that europe continue to buy US armaments and systems. a lost in the noise about "feckless Europeans" is that part of the Nato deal was so that USA could sell its weapons systems to europe and its allies, to defray their own R&D and manuf. costs. This has always been the unspoken quid pro quo.
however, the perception of "kill switches" not just in the F-35 , are pushing europe to reconsider, on top of the perception of US unreliability. (not to mention that no pilots trust the F-35 anyway , and bail out the moment there is an issue)
europe (and perhaps the broader commonwealth ) will move away from the USA weapons systems. Trump has left them no choice...they can only buy time , meantime...
