Once an individual slips the tether of facts , it takes real strength of character and intellectual honesty to fight one’s way back to reality.

David Horowitz popularized the term “liberal plantation” over two decades ago, an entire generation of people steeped in conservative ideology, troubled by the racism within the Republican Party, latched onto the term “liberal plantation” as a way to shift the discussion away from their own broken party and onto the party that was actually championing civil rights.

In their minds, civil rights, including voter rights WAS the problem as these programs, according to Horowitz, did nothing but increase dependence on the state. Hence the term “liberal plantation”

Simplistic and mostly false, such beliefs led to the dismantling of government programs, the disenfranchisement of hundreds of thousands of minority voters and the impoverishment of millions.

Whenever you hear the term “liberal plantation”, think of the old saying from the Vietnam era.

“We had to destroy the village in order to save it.”

Same dunderheadedness. Same racism disguised as benevolence.
