I think Trump was designated the new King Cyrus. They see him as allowing the temple to be rebuilt and one step closer to the rapture. When he moved the American embassy, they saw the hand of God moving. So he is an instrument. He is the chosen one to help rebuild the temple and the end of days will happen. There are different cults within churches and many are tied to end of days - it's popular, better than snake handling. In my youth in Texas I'd see bumper stickers declaring that in case of rapture the pick up would be unmanned.

How he has such a hold on the non-religious might be that he allows them to be as bigoted and non PC as they want to be. And any limit on guns is a slippery slope and must be stopped. We put our thumb on the democracy scales in the electoral college and pay a price for that.
