Venezuelan security forces have detained several Americans in the past several months since Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to begin attacking suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean and interdicting suspected santioned oil tankers departing the country.

The New York Times cited a U.S. official who told the news outlet that the State Department was considering designating two Americans, including one traveler from Staten Island identified as James Luckey-Lange, as wrongfully detained.

The local Detroit media was constantly blathering about Paul Whelan, whining he's an ex-Marine, and an American, as if that automatically made him innocent. What they didn't say was the Marines court martialed him for being a crook, and discharged him with bad paper. Most of the law enforcement experience he claimed on his resume was fake. The Russians could have been right about him. But Trump got him sprung, so Trump is a hero.
