I do see the Mayor and Governor doing nothing about the 20 to 40 shootings that every weekend in Chicago and have been going back years.

Chicago is a large city, so it rings up big numbers for everything. Several other cities actually have higher rates of shootings/murders, and some of them are in red states. According to Wiki, Memphis, in a red state, has the third highest rate for murder and non-negligent manslaughter, at 40.61/100000. Chicago ranks 22nd, with a murder and non-negligent manslaughter rate of 17.47/100000 Portland ranks 56th, with a murder rate of 10.75/100000
