Subject: Re: Ruby Bridges, 1960
Remarkably, conservative unity endures—fueled not by principles but by hatred....
Whether invoking the ghosts of yesterday’s conservatives, those who birthed the KKK, defended slavery, enforced Jim Crow, engineered the Southern Strategy, and devised ever more creative ways to suppress the vote or examining today’s iteration, which pledges blind loyalty to a man endorsed twice by former KKK leader David Duke and the *Crusader*, the official newspaper of the Klan, the lineage remains unmistakable.
The conservative movement, past and present, has always found its lifeblood in hate.
Latest example:
Trump has commissioned the installation of a new statue in Washington—honoring Albert Pike, a Confederate general, defender of slavery, and early figure in the Ku Klux Klan...
"The white race, and that race alone, shall govern this country. It is the only one that is fit to govern, and it is the only one that shall." ~Albert Pike
In 1905's book Ku Klux Klan: Its Origin, Growth and Disbandment, the author Walter L. Fleming, lists Pike as the Klan's "chief judicial officer."
A MAGA hero!
