Subject: Re: "Death to Israel"
My sympathies??

I have no sympathies. If someone is legally protesting, they have that right. Whether I agree with them or not is irrelevant. If they are doing something illegal, arrest them. Simple as that for me. I am not familiar with the particulars of the cases you mentioned, so can't comment further. Other than to say, the extent of punishment is up to prosecutors and judges. Not me.

Yes, I know the protest was in Michigan. It said so in your OP. They did adopt the "American way". They are especially free to protest legally, and say anything they like about America. Just as you or I am free to say what we want. That is one of the hallmarks of the "American way". "Hate crime" is always a little vague to me, but "death to America" doesn't qualify. Pretty sure it never has. Albaby can correct me if I'm wrong, but even chanting "you shall not replace us" while carrying tiki torches isn't a hate crime either (even though it is singling out a single religious/ethnic group). As long as they don't illegally occupy a federal office building, or vandalize, or threaten people directly, or plow into them with cars, I'm pretty sure they're on the safe side of the line. I may consider it odious, but it isn't -to my knowledge- illegal. It is, in fact, protected speech.
