I went to Burger King for lunch today. They now have a permanent, plastic laminated, sign on the counter, imploring people to use a credit card or cell phone app to pay, due to the penny shortage. The last time I was in this store, I overheard the girl at the drive-up saying she was out of pennies, so dug around in my wallet, and found 10 pennies to sell to the restaurant.

The mint says there are, iirc, 300 Billion pennies in circulation.

Steve...won't even ask for a royalty if the government adopted "Plan Steve" for coinage.
