This is a bigger deal than it looks like. Deferring taxes for decades is a huge tailwind.

This also works for college savings plans like 529's.

A couple of decades ago I was approached to set up such plans when the grandchildren started coming along. Instead, I bought and held Berkshire stock for them with after tax money. As a bonus there is much more flexibility with how you can use the proceeds. And you avoid the fees in the 529 investment alternates - which was a bigger deal back then than now.

The tax benefits of owning BRK with all earnings reinvested and taxes deferred are significant. And you also get smart investors who are dedicated to avoiding permanent loss of capital.

This is well known but not always well appreciated.
