Of course, this tariff revenue will predominantly be taken from low income and middle class families, who are already struggling to make ends meet.
This seems to get absolutely no air time. The tariffs are a highly regressive tax. It is a new tax, and it is on the poor and middle class. This needs to be made very clear.

Tariffs are a substitute for a federal sales tax (a tax on imported goods). Regressive for sure, but almost all consumption taxes are and they are very common elsewhere in the world.
