Gun zealots like to say it isn't the gun. So I point to Japan. The interesting part is that at the beginning of WW2 Japan had the same gun murder rate as the US. The first foray seemed to show that after WW2 there was a rejection of the old values, and that all of the murder was being done by the old WW2 generation. And as they died off, so did murder. In the 2d foray I ran across papers that supported this.

So along with reducing availability of guns, we need better values.
