Subject: Re: Promises kept...YIKES!
Yes, but MIKE told us that no one who committed violence against a person on Jan 6 would be pardoned. That was told to him to make everyone quiet down about people who attacked cops, and beat cops an Jan 6 being pardoned, but it looks like they were pardoned. Now I believe Mike read that but I'm pointing out that Mike got lied to and that the EO I saw had a list of people whose time was commuted and a paragraph after that pardoned everyone for Jan 6.

MIKE GOT LIED TO, AND HE REPEATED THE LIE TO US (he believed it though). DOPE AGREED WITH THE LIE. The odds are very good that y'all (Mike, Dope, LM, and SheepleDip) believed it. YOU GOT LIED TO ABOUT SOMETHING VERY SERIOUS WHERE POLICE WERE INJURED, AND THE INJURIES WERE INTENDED AND YOU REPEATED THE LIE TO US. - Lapsody

Well, since you used the internet equivalent of screaming, ALL CAPS, I felt a reply was called for.

First of all, as much as I hate to be wrong, I agree with you and take the L. I was “lied to” and I did repeat that lie to the board.

I did a lot of soul searching on how I came to hold that opinion about Trumps J6 pardon. I was still coming up empty until this morning, when I was watching NBC news DVR’ed from yesterday. Yes, I know it is hard to believe but I do follow some news besides Fox. Not close to the same volume but I do watch NBC news on a daily basis because they provide new angles on the daily news cycle, some of which was on Fox News and some not. Also NBC provides coverage on a lot of events that are not mentioned on Fox at all.

NBC was presenting its take on the outcry over the J6 pardons. They showed a brief clip of Trump speaking on Jan 7, 2021 where he said “To those engaged in the acts of violence and destruction, you do not represent our country and to those who broke the law you will pay. That was followed by a recent clip of JD Vance answering a question a week or so before the pardons were issued. JD Vance said, “If you conducted violence on that day, obviously you should not be pardoned.”

So there is the genesis of the lie. Trumps initial Jan 7 statement made it clear, to me anyway, that he was distinguishing between violent ones who will have to pay and the non-violent ones. Then JD Vance’s recent comment seemed to re-inforce that distinction. And I assumed he was in synch with the president which ended up to not be the case.

I think that Trump made a big mistake. He made an unforced error by going too far. The outrage from all sides just distracts from rest of the America First agenda. But even more than how it affects Trump, there are some bad guys now on the street that should not be there at least until more time had been served.

One last thing about Lies. I think we throw that term around much too freely. When you call someone a liar, you are not only calling their statement wrong but are also asserting that they knew it was wrong when they said it but did it anyway in order to achieve some nefarious purpose. So called lies could have roots in a bad memory or an actual change of position based on new information. It is not always clear.

How many on this board lied when they defended Joe’s promise that he would never pardon Hunter? Did Joe lie or did he change his mind along the way. Are you a liar for believing him? I would not call you a liar unless you knew for certain from the beginning that was his intent but said it was not anyway.

This is quite different and mild when compared to genuine 100% lying for personal gain such as Blumenthal’s Stolen Valor.
