So who hires these “near-zero wage slaves” to do the work for them? That would be Republican farmers.

And who fights the hardest against raising the minimum wage because less people would find work and it goes against the free market? That would be Republican politicians.

And who wants to make an exception to deporting illegal immigrants if they work on farms? That would be Republican Trump.

And, when we paid farm laborers more, who would whine the loudest when food prices rose precipitously? The poorer rural Republicans.

And who would be the first to ask for huge government handouts (you know, socialism) when they couldn’t stay in business because of high labor costs? Small Republican farmers.

I say let’s hire Americans to pick our food and pay them $40k per year plus benefits and then see who screams the loudest about it.
