Subject: escalating the escalation
A day or two back, I heard an analyst say he expected "Bibi" to escalate military campaigns in Gaza, Lebanon, and the west bank.

Yesterday, I posted about the Israelis shifting their "evacuation" zone 10 miles farther north, in Lebanon, to the Zahrani River. Now, about 1/8th of the area of Lebanon is an Israeli occupation zone where any Lebanese will likely be killed, and their homes, farms, and businesses destroyed.

When the "cease fire" started in Gaza, the IDF occupied about 53% of Gaza. That occupation was then extended to 60%.

Today:

Netanyahu says he has directed IDF to increase control of Gaza to 70%

Speaking at a conference on Thursday, he said: "We are currently squeezing Hamas; we now control 60% of the territory of the Strip - you know this. We were at 50, we moved to 60. My directive is to move to," he said before pausing as someone in the crowd said, "100".

"Let's go step by step. First of all, 70. Let's start with that. We're pressing them from all sides, we'll deal with the remnants."

Gaza was already densely populated. Now those 2M people, less the tens of thousands the Israelis have killed, are to be squeezed into only 30% of Gaza. What is the end point? Push the Gazans into the sea at bayonet point, while giving them a lecture about "personal responsibility" and how they should have learned how to swim?
