Subject: Re: Warren on car company history
Reminds me Warren having said once that seen the history of all car companies together (including the overwhelming majority of those not existing anymore) producing cars is a loss making business (or similar he said).
Did he say that about car manufacturers? I thought it was airplanes. Maybe it's both.
Tesla have made incredible advancements in EVs and driving tech. Not actually made much if any money yet, though, have they? Not when compensation via share options is included.
I just finished the Musk biography by Isaacson. Very good read.
Pretty fair review here (free article):

So, after reading the book I'm wondering more about AI. I've spent my entire career in the automation business, mostly writing programs for control systems. I am skeptical that a programmed rules-based system could ever drive a car as well as a good human driver. Now they're going the AI route, training the AI to drive as a good human driver would, I'm not so skeptical. If (big if?) an AI can "think" like a human, or better, then learning to drive will be trivial. Heck, if my 16-year old can do it...
Anyone recommend a primer book on AI?
