The discussion on, iirc, Amanpour, last night reached a consensus that the "arty deal" puts us back to where we were, before Trump's latest round of agitation. Of course, Trump calls it a win, saying words to the effect "on a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 12", because, of course, no-one is as perfect and able as he is.

Besides tariff levels, Trump got them to agree to purchase 12 metric tons o soybeans this year, then 25 million tons minimum for each of the next three years. He also got them delay for one year some sort of export restriction on rare earths they were about to impose. There was some other stuff to but the point is there was lots more to the meeting than tariffs. Trump even prevailed on the alpha handshake with Xi.
