Subject: OT: T^he legacy of Versailles
The most prominent surrender and peace document signed at the Palace of Versailles is the Treaty of Versailles. Signed in the Hall of Mirrors on June 28, 1919, it officially ended World War I between Germany and the Allied Powers.
The site has occasionally hosted other historic surrenders:
The Franco-Prussian Armistice (1871): A ceasefire was agreed upon in Versailles after the siege of Paris, leading to the unification of Germany and the formal end of the war.
US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (2026): A landmark geopolitical memorandum intended to wind down the war between the US/Israel and Iran.
